David Kim Winecoff was born on October 8, 1953 and was raised in North Carolina. He was a graduate of Furman University (1975, Individualized Curriculum Program on History, Philosophy, and Science) and Covenant Theological Seminary (1980, M. Div., valedictorian; 1990, Th. M.). He was the founding pastor of Providence Reformed Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, MO, and ministered to that congregation until his passing in a mountain climbing accident on the Sangre del Cristo range in Colorado, on August 18, 1993. At the time of his death he was nearing completion of a PhD in Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, and was working as Adjunct Professor of Homiletics at Knox Theological Seminary.
At Furman he met his wife, Jane Noonan, of Pensacola, FL. They married in 1978. They had four children: William Kindred, Justin David, Jane Claire, and Susanna Ponder.
